Lady Bisons Softball Earns Split With 7-3 Win Over Tennessee State

The Lady Bisons played TSU on Thursday afternoon at Tiger Field. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played at Crocket Park but was moved to Tiger Field due to the last nights weather.

The Lady Bisons dropped game one 1-0 to the Tigers after tallying two hits for the game. The Lady Bisons bounced back though and won game two 7-3. The Lady Bisons are now 15-14 on the season and the Tigers are now 4-20.

In game two starting right-handed pitcher Allison Tyree threw her second complete game and gave up eight hits and three runs while fanning six batters. Tyree earned her fourth win of the season and is now 4-3. Tyree lowered her earned run average to 3.92.

Jennifer Cannon led the way offensively in game two as she went 3-for-4 and scored two runs and drove in two. Two of Cannon's hits were doubles. She now has five doubles for the season and has a batting average of .289.

Leigh Little, Jessica Wilson, Ashley Villalpando, and Lindsay Larson each had two hits in game two.

Little went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Wilson went 2-for-3 and scored a run. Villalpando went 2-for-4 scored one run and drove in one run. Larson went 2-for-4 and scored one run.

The Lady Bisons racked up 14 hits and scored seven runs and committed zero errors in game two. The Tigers scored three runs off of eight hits and committed three errors.

The Lady Bisons left 10 runners on base. The Tigers left eight runners on base.

The Tigers scored the only run in game one in the 6th inning after Leena Worrell drove in Nira Robbins from third base.

Starting right-handed pitcher Danielle Catalano threw her seventh complete game of the season as she gave up five hits and one earned run. Catalano struck out seven batters has struck out a team leading 56 batters this season. Catalano is now 5-6 and has an earned run average of 2.50.

Starting right-handed pitcher Kristina Blair threw a complete game shutout and gave up two hits and walked three. Blair is now 4-8.

Leigh Little and Candice McWherter were the only Lady Bisons to get hits. Little was 1-for-2 at the plate and McWherter went 1-for-3.

The Lady Bisons scored zero runs off of two hits and committed one error. The Tigers scored one run off of five hits and committed zero errors.
