COOKEVILLE, Tenn. _ The Lady Bisons softball team struggled at the plate Tuesday afternoon falling 8-0 and 9-0 in a doubleheader at Tennessee Tech University.
Both games were five innings.
Tech's Bonnie Bynum threw a no-hitter in the first game
Sarah Street and Kristina Hortert combined for a one-hit shutout in the second game.
In the second game, the only hit for the Lady Bisons came in the top of the second inning when Jessica Wilson doubled down the left field line.
Allison Tyree started the first game for the Lady Bisons. She gave up five hits and six runs, four earned, in 1.1 innings. She also struck out two and walked two.
Kim Jacobson pitched 1.2 innings in relief. She allowed seven hits and three runs, all earned. She also walked one batter.
Sara Meek closed out the game for the Lady Bisons. In one inning she shut down Tennessee Tech on no hits and one walk. She struck out three batters.
In game two Meek returned to the mound for the Lady Bisons. She pitched 4.2 innings. She scattered nine hits and gave up eight runs, four earned. She also struck out three batters.
The Lady Bisons don't play again until March 6. They will play their first game on the Lipscomb campus in more than a year. Alabama A & M will be the first opponent on the new Draper Diamond. Game time is 1 p.m. There will be a dedication ceremony prior to the start of the game.
