Wednesday, July 19, 2006 July 19, 2006 Lipscomb University softball coach Kristin Peck has announced the signing of pitcher Christen Campbell from Lakeland, Tenn. Campbell, 5-foot-6, was a four-year All-State, All-Region and All-District selection at Saint Benedict at Auburndale in Cordova, Tenn. She was also the softball team's MVP all four seasons. Campbell was a "Best of the Preps" finalist named by the Memphis Commercial-Appeal as a 10th, 11th and 12th grader. Saint Benedict at Auburndale won four region championships in Campbell's four years with the team. Her senior season the team won five tournament championships; beat Keller High School in Keller, Texas, the No. 1 team in the nation ranked by USA Today at the time; and finished the season ranked 18th in the nation. Campbell will pursue a major in pre-medicine. She is the daughter of Joy and Ernie Campbell. She chose Lipscomb because "it felt more like home out of all the visits I had." |
