Lady Bisons earn second shutout of the season

Final Stats

Lipscomb's Lady Bisons extended their season-opening winning streak to three games Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 shutout of Coastal Carolina in Conway, S.C.

It was the second shutout of the season for the Lady Bisons. Christen Campbell went the route for the Lady Bisons, allowing only three hits, all singles. Campbell struck out four and walked only one.

The Lady Bisons scored all four of their runs in the third inning.

Kristie Sirus opened the inning by grounding out to the shortstop. Lauren Dortwegt followed with a single to left field. Niki Bails moved Dortwegt to second with a sacrifice bunt.

With two out and one runner on base Julia Davidson singled to right field scoring Dortwegt. Heather Collins followed with a single to right moving Davidson to third. Leigh Little pinch ran for Collins. Kellie Sirus then homered driving in three runs. Christy Grisham grounded out to end the inning.

The Lady Bisons pounded out 10 hits. The home run by Kellie Sirus was the only extra base hit in the game. Both Dortwegt and Kellie Sirus had two hits.

The Lady Bisons were scheduled to play Elon later this afternoon.
