The Lady Bison softball team bounced back from their loss to Ball State to defeat Bowling Green 10-9 in the Chattanooga Challenge Friday afternoon.

The Falcons got on the board early and often but the Lady Bisons answered back every time.

Going into the bottom of the sixth inning the Lady Bisons were down 7-5 when senior transfer Sara Simons, from Kearny, Missouri, hit a two-run homer over the centerfield wall to tie the game.

Abby Keese, Kellie Sirus, and Heather Collins would step across the plate before the close of the inning to give the Lady Bisons a 10-7 lead.

Bowling Green would add two runs in the top of the seventh inning to no avail.

Sophomore Alaina Jacobson would take the start for the Lady Bisons, pitching 5 innings, and fanning 5 batters. Kim Jacobson would close the game, pitching two innings of relief to take the win.

"Sara Simons had a big two run home run in the sixth that really helped us," said head coach Kristin Peck. "She is a great competitor. She is as perceptive of a player as anybody that I've coached. It was good to see her break through and come through for us with a big hit like that."

"It was good to see us go on a big run like that because it gave our girls a lot of confidence to win against an impressive Bowling Green team."

The Lady Bisons advance to 3-5 on the season and take on Akron tomorrow morning at 8:45 am, and Iowa State at 11:00 am.
