The Lady Bisons managed to play only one game. Friday afternoon the beat Rhode Island 7-3.
The Lady Bisons struck first with one run in the first inning. Lauren Dortwegt reached base on an error by the third baseman. Dortwegt moved to second on a sacrifice by Courtney Billington. Kellie Sirus doubled to center field to score Dortwegt.
Rhode Island came back to tie the game in the top of the second and took a 2-1 lead after adding another run in the third.
The Lady Bisons tied the game with a solo run in the third. Once again, Dortwegt reached base on an error by the third baseman. Billington advanced Dortwegt to second on a bunt single. With one out Abby Keese was intentionally walked to load the bases. Caroline Mason drove in Dortwegt after being hit by a pitch.
The Lady Bisons moved ahead 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth. Sirus singled up the middle to lead off the inning. Keese walked. Mason sacrificed Sirus to third and Keese to second. Christen Campbell flied out to left to send Sirus home.
Rhode Island tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the seventh.
The Lady Bisons answered with a grand slam home run by Keese to ice the game.
Both Billington and Sirus had two hits in the game. Sirus has five multiple hit games this season. Keese extended her hitting streak to six games. Campbell ended a seven-game hitting streak.
This was the second game that Keese has driven in four runs. She also had four RBI against Eastern Kentucky Feb. 21.
Campbell started the game for the Lady Bisons and pitched four innings. She gave up five hits and two run, one earned. She struck out two. Alaina Jacobson threw the final three innings. She scattered four hits and allowed one run, unearned.
