Softball remains undefeated in A-Sun with wins over UNF
The Lady Bisons took on North Florida in a double header today in Florida and stayed perfect in the Atlantic Sun with two wins over the Ospreys.

Last night the Lady Bisons broke their single season record for shutouts, previously 17 from last season, against Jacksonville with two shutouts, setting the record at 18. Today they continued to set the bar with a 3-0 shutout bringing the record total to 19 on the season.

Whitney Kiihnl (19-2) continued to remain strong on the mound for Lipscomb, holding the Ospreys scoreless and to only four hits. Kiihnl struck out 11 and walked three, all adding up to another shutout for the Lady Bisons.

The Lipscomb offense used only five hits in the first game to get three runs across the plate.

Mackenzie Tucker, Abby Keese, Mollie Mitchell and Kiihnl all had a hit for the Lady Bisons.

Kellie Sirus hit her seventh homerun of the season.

Game two came easier for the Lady Bisons as they got 14 runs and 17 hits off UNF’s Devyn Findley, previously a premier pitcher in the Atlantic Sun.

The game was called due to a mercy rule after five complete innings with the Lady Bisons winning 14-1.

Of the 14 runs to cross the plate, 13 were earned.

Christen Campbell (8-2) threw the complete five innings for Lipscomb, giving up three hits and striking out five. She walked one batter.

Lauren Dortwegt was perfect with a 4 for 4 performance with a double and three runs scored. Campbell went 3 for 4 with six RBI.

Mitchell, Courtney Billington, and freshman Camille Cross each added two hits for Lipscomb. Cross got her first double in her Lipscomb career.

Tucker, Keese, Sirus, and Kiihnl all added a hit for the Lady Bisons.

With two wins today, the Lady Bisons remain the only undefeated team in conference play with a record of 8-0 and are 29-7 on the season.

UNF falls to 19-20 overall, 5-3 in the conference.

The Lady Bisons come back home to take on Tennessee State Wednesday at Draper Diamond for a non-conference double header beginning at 4 p.m.. Both games will be featured on ASun.TV.
