Dortwegt, Sirus earn CoSIDA District All-Academic honors
Lipscomb Lady Bison softball players Kellie Sirus and Lauren Dortwegt have both been selected as District IV All-Academic First Team selections by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and ESPN the Magazine.

This is the first time that two players from a Lipscomb team have both been named First Team All-District.

Sirus, a senior first baseman, was a First Team District IV All-Academic Selection in 2009. She also was named First Team CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American, only the second Lipscomb athlete to earn that honor.

Dortwegt, a senior center fielder, was an All-District IV Second Team pick last season.

Both are eligible for national team honors.

Dortwegt , the 2010 winner of the James R. Byers Award, the highest award a Lipscomb athlete can receive, has a 3.95 grade point average in interdisciplinary teach. Sirus has a 3.92 in psychology.

In order to be eligible for the award athletes also have to be major contributors on the field. Both players are in the top 10 in the Atlantic Sun overall in a several categories.

Sirus is the Atlantic Sun Conference leader in runs batted in (40), runs scored (47) and slugging percentage (.699). She is second overall in home runs (12) and triples (3) and third in total bases (102).

Dortwegt is second in hits with 63 and fourth in runs scored with 41.

District IV includes the states of Tennessee, Alabama, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan.
