Lady Bisons aren't going to let first weekend get them down

New year, new beginning.

This year we got to start out by pushing the snow off the tarp and then un-tarping, our favorite thing to do! But it wasn’t as bad as last year and we managed to get it off rather quickly so we really can’t complain.

After grabbing a quick lunch downstairs Thursday we got our seats on the bus. While a lot of my teammates immediately closed their eyes there were a few still looking around. Off to Athens we go!

We finally get to Athens and have a nice team dinner at Chili’s, then it’s off to the hotel and time for bed. We have an early morning. Breakfast Friday is at 6:40 a.m. and depart for the field at 7:15. I wish I could say it wasn’t freezing but there was still frost on the dirt, the dugouts, and the grass so that would be a bold face lie.

Once we got going though it warmed up, after a tough 1-0 loss to East Carolina we got to take on Iowa and beat them 5-4. We had an early day but also finished early which meant that we got to have a nice team lunch at Ali Watson’s house. Her family made the most amazing food! We all left "SO" full!

In my room it was Mackie (Mackenzie Tucker) and I sleeping and then Court (Courtney Billingon) went off to study and write a lab report…YUCK! After a good 2 ½- hour nap we woke up and went to dinner.

Saturday was a later start for us so we got to sleep in. We took on Illinois State in the afternoon and lost 2-0. After a game break we had Maryland up next and we jumped out to a 3-0 lead but ended up losing 4-3.

We ended up finishing late that night so most of us showered and went to bed early. We had to mentally prepare to take on Georgia which is the No. 3 team in the country, but we’re Lipscomb and we can hang with anyone and we all believe that. Our game got pushed back so we started at about 4. We jumped out to 2-0 lead but Georgia responded with one run, so we came back with another to make it a 3-1 game going into the bottom of the sixth. They had a big inning and ended up taking the lead 7-3.

In the top of the seventh we got another run back when Bridgette Begle led off with a single and whit (Whitney Kiihnl) moved her to second with a hit. Bree (Breanna Thurman) came up and singled to score Bridgette.

The final score was 7-4 but we took a lot away from this weekend. We aren’t going to hang our heads because it’s still early and there is always a lot of room for improvement but come May we’ll be unstoppable.
