Nessa's News: Easter break, recapping Mercer and Kennesaw
We were looking forward to bouncing back from last weekend and securing the number two seed going into the A-Sun Tournament.  Kennesaw and Mercer were in town and ready to play.

We were all excited to play and thankful the rain held off so we could get the games in.

Thursday we had Kennesaw.  Whitney gave us a great performance and we took the first game 2-0.  It was a pitchers battle all the way through.  We found ways to score and the defense played very well.  Of course when your pitcher strikes out 13 there’s not much defense to be played.  Whit made it easy on us.  Ali came out and pitched game two.  She has been throwing really well and it’s nice to see her on the mound with all the confidence in the world, she’s earned it.  In the seventh, Whit came in and closed out the sweep for us.  It was a good night and Friday we couldn’t wait to play Mercer, they are tied for second in our least favorite team’s category.

Friday did not feel like a Friday but thankfully the rain held off once again, meaning we got Easter weekend off!  More importantly it meant we got to sweep Mercer.   We won both games 1-0.  Not bad when you can score five runs in a weekend and win four games.  Our defense and pitching staff made that all possible.

The second game with Mercer went 9 innings, I think that was our longest game of the season.  Ali threw all nine and didn’t allow them to score.  Bridgette saved us late in the game when a ball tipped off my glove and she was there to recover and toss it back to me at first for the third out, thanks B!  We were all there to pick each other up when little things like that happened and that saved a run from scoring.  Like Coach says “it’s the little things,” and that made a huge difference in the game.

It was a good weekend for us, we secured the number two-spot and are only a game out of first place, who knows with our conference.  I still believe that we can get the number one seed, there is still four games for us to have our chance.  Jacksonville just has to lose two of their four remaining games.

We got Easter weekend off for the first time in my three years to be with our families.  After the games Friday a lot of the girls headed home and lucky me I got to head back to California on Saturday morning to spend Easter with my family.  Good weekend, four wins and I got to go home, almost too good to be true!

This week we have a single game at home against Tennessee Tech on Wednesday then on Saturday it’s senior night, A.K.A. Mack night against Belmont.
