MACON, Ga. – The awards continue to roll in for Whitney Kiihnl. The senior pitcher for the Lady Bisons softball team was named the 2012 Atlantic Sun softball Scholar Athlete of the Year the conference office announced, Tuesday.

Kiihnl, who graduated Saturday with a degree in biology, carried a 3.63 GPA through her collegiate career. The Batesville, Miss. native has been accepted into the physician’s assistant program at Harding University and will continue her academic career in the fall.

This is the second academic award Kiihnl’s received this year. She was named to the CoSIDA District III All-Academic team last Friday. The three-time All-Academic team honoree is the first Lipscomb softball player to earn Scholar Athlete of the Year.
