NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb University’s Heather Parker was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performances in contests from March 25-31.
It is the first time Parker has won the award.
Parker posted a pair of victories along with a save in four appearances last week for the Bisons. The Pleasant Grove, Ala., native struck out five in 3.2 innings of relief in the mid-week against Kentucky before a big weekend at Florida Gulf Coast.
The right-hander picked up a save in the first game of the series, getting the final two outs with one walk and a strikeout in a 5-3 LU victory. Parker allowed one run in a complete game in the second game of the series, walking three and striking out five. She also started the final game against the Eagles, posting another victory with four innings of work, giving up one run with two walks and five strikeouts.
Parker is 6-8 on the season with a 2.67 ERA and 80 strikeouts in 97.0 innings of work. She has appeared in 21 of the clubs 33 contests with 11 starts and seven complete games. Lipscomb plays a doubleheader at UAB on Tuesday and faces East Tennessee in a three-game series this weekend on the road.
