NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb University’s Heather Parker was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week for her performances in contests from April 1-7.
It is the second week in a row that Parker has won the honor. She has also been Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week for the past two weeks.
Parker allowed just one run in 18.1 innings over three appearances for the Bisons, posting a pair of one-hit shutouts at East Tennessee State over the weekend. The righthander took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in the final game of the series at ETSU before giving up a leadoff single in the seventh. She walked one and struck out eight in the victory.
The previous day the Pleasant Grove, Ala., native gave up just one hit with one walk and three strikeouts in five innings versus the Bucs. Parker also tossed 6.1 innings in the mid-week at UAB, dropping a 1-0 decision despite allowing only six hits with five strikeouts.
She is now 8-9 on the season with a 2.31 ERA in 24 appearances, striking out 96 in 115.1 innings of work. Lipscomb hosts Belmont in a doubleheader on Wednesday and takes on USC-Upstate this weekend in a three-game series at home.
