Big hits give Softball 11-7 win in season opener
The Lipscomb Lady Bisons opened the 2014 softball season with an 11-7 win over Miami-Ohio Saturday at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium.
Paige Neely slammed the first pitch she faced this season over the center field fence for two runs.
Rene' Cothron added a two-run homer in her first at bat.
Bree Lipscomb had the big hit of the game for Miami with a three-run homer in the fourth.
Lipscomb's Bridgette Begley and Brittany Elmore each hit a double.
Tanner Sanders picked up the win scattering nine hits and allowing seven runs, five earned.
Heather Parker relieved in the seventh.
The Lady Bisons close out tonight against Tennessee State.
