Kelsey Cartwright earns spot on Academic All-District Team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb outfielder Kelsey Cartwright has been named to the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District softball team for NCAA Division I.

Cartwright was named to the District 3 team, which includes schools in the states of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

A senior from Joelton, Tennessee, Cartwright has a 3.51 GPA in Psychology. She is working on her Master’s in Special Education.

“Kelsey has gotten a lot of honors for what she has done on the field for the last three years she has been here,” Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman said. “She is known for being a great hitter and for putting up really good numbers.

“It is cool to see her honored on the academic side. This award takes into account what they do on the field as well as academics. You don’t win solely for being a good student. It is recognition of both.”

Cartwright is batting .321 this season. She has seven home runs and 39 runs batted in, both second on the team. She has not made an error this season in right field.

“It is neat for her to finish up her career winning this award,” Ryman said. “She has worked hard to get there.”
