NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lipscomb Lady Bisons will be out to do some further fine-tuning as they face Tennessee Tech in a non–conference game.
Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium the Lady Bisons, 21-22 overall, will play the Golden Eagles, 24-20, from the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Lady Bisons won two-of-three games against North Florida in Atlantic Sun action this past weekend. Tennessee Tech also won two-of-three games against a conference foe, Jacksonville State.
Brittany Elmore enters the game with an 11-game hitting streak and a 22-game on base streak. Both are season highs for the team.
Paige Neely leads the Lady Bisons with a .377 batting average. Also batting .300 or higher for the Lady Bisons are Elmore at .355 and Baylee Williams at .300. Williams also leads the team in RBI with 33.
In the circle Kelly Young is 11-12 with a 2.99 earned run average and a conference-leading 162 strikeouts.
Tanners Sanders is 10-10 with a 3.23 ERA. She has 111 strikeouts.
SCOUTING TENNESSEE TECH: The Golden Eagles have three players batting in the .300 range. Hannah Eldridge leads with a .336 average. Alyssa Richards is batting .333 followed by Angi Sakamoto at .305.
Olivia Bennett leads the team in home runs (37) and runs batted in (37).
Danielle Liberatore leads the pitching staff with a 13-8 record and a 2.11 ERA. She has 183 strikeouts in 149 innings. Hannah Weaver is 7-8 with a 5.03 ERA.
The Lady Bisons hold a thin 12-11 advantage in the series.
National rankings: Elmore is fifth nationally in stolen bases with an average of .84 per game.
Paige Neely is 20th in doubles with .37 per game. She leads the A-Sun with 16.
Kelly Young is 29th in strikeouts with 162.
Abby Fenichel is 19th nationally having been hit by pitches an average of .35 times per game. Mimi Cartwright is 46th in the same category having been hit an average of .27 times per game.
As a team the Lady Bisons are 19th in stolen bases with 1.74 per game.
They are 69th in fielding with a .966 percentage.
RPI watch: The Lady Bisons are rated 81st in this week’s RPI.
USC Upstate, at 39, is the highest rated A-Sun team. Kennesaw State is 67th and Stetson is 84th. North Florida is just outside the top 100 at 101.
The Lady Bisons travel to Spartanburg, South Carolina this weekend for a three-game series with USC Upstate, the first place team in the A-Sun. A doubleheader is scheduled for noon Saturday. A single game will be played Sunday at noon. All times are CT.
