Softball's offense silenced by No. 5 Michigan

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team lost 13-1 to Michigan Saturday in the second day of the Bama Bash at Rhoads Stadium.

The game was called in the fifth inning due to the run rule.

Michigan opened with three runs in the first and added one in the third. The Wolverines closed with nine in the fourth.

Baylee Williams opened the third inning with a home run over the left field fence, the only run for the Lady Bisons. It was her first home run of the season.

Williams also added a single in the fifth.

Brianne Welch also had two hits for the Lady Bisons with a pair of singles, one in the third and one in the fifth.

Williams and Welch were the only Lipscomb batters to get hits in the game.

Kelly Young, 2-4, started in the circle for the Purple and Gold. She pitched into the fourth inning and gave up six hits and eight runs, all earned. She struck out one and walked four.

Caitlin Plocheck relieved in the fourth and pitched one-third of an inning. She allowed three hits and five runs, all earned. She walked two and struck out one.

Tanner Sanders closed out the game for the Lady Bisons in the circle pitching the final two-thirds. She scattered two hits. She walked one.

Lipscomb slips to 5-7. Michigan is 11-1 with a 10-game winning streak.

The Lady Bisons are scheduled to play James Madison at 6 p.m. today.
