MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Kelly Young secured her second Atlantic Sun Softball Pitcher of the Week award for the season. It was announced by the league office on Monday.
Young was dominant in the circle at the Courtyard by Marriott-Brentwood Purple and Gold Challenge hosted by Lipscomb this past weekend at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. She pitched a five-hit shutout in the first game against Dayton on Saturday. Young walked one, and struck out a single-game and season-high 11 batters.
On Sunday, Young came out of the bullpen to pick up her second win of the weekend as she pitched two scoreless innings. She struck out two more batters to finish the weekend with 13 combined strikeouts. Young ranks second in the A-Sun with 50 strikeouts at this point in the season.
Young, a right-hander from Madison, Mississippi, is a junior majoring in exercise science.
She ranks second in the conference with 50 strikeouts this season for the Lady Bisons.
