ROSEMONT, Ill. – Lipscomb’s four-game winning streak ended in the final day of the Total Control Sports Invitational with a 9-1 loss to Eastern Kentucky Sunday morning.
A 1-1 pitching duel opened up in the fifth when Eastern Kentucky scored three runs and five more in the sixth to close out the game due to the run-rule lead at The Dome at Rosemont.
The Lady Bisons are 4-5. Eastern Kentucky is 6-2.
Tanner Sanders started for Lipscomb. She allowed six hits and four runs, all earned. She struck out seven and walked one.
Kelly Young came on in relief and in one inning gave up two hits and five runs, three earned. She walked one and struck out two. Mandy Jordan faced one batter and gave up the hit that closed out the game.
Lipscomb connected for three hits with one each by Brittany Elmore, Abby Fenichel and Destinee Brewer.
The Lady Bisons are back in action Feb. 26-28 in the Frost Classic in Chattanooga.
Base hits:
- Elmore has a nine-game hitting streak with at least one hit in every game this season. Fenichel has a six-game hitting streak. Brewer has hits in her last five games.
- Elmore stole a base and leads the Lady Bisons with five.
- Lipscomb is 4-3 overall against EKU from the Ohio Valley Conference.
