NASHVILLE, Tenn. Lipscomb’s McCarley Thomas were named the Softball Pitcher of the Week by the Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday for her performance for February 13-19.
This is her first ever TSWA award.
Thomas posted two wins and a save in four appearances for the Bisons, allowed just two earned runs over 17.1 innings of work with one walk and 20 strikeouts in the Wyndham Garden Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina.
The Brentwood, Tenn., native tossed a complete game versus Monmouth, striking out seven and giving up one run on five hits.
She also earned a victory against Eastern Kentucky in 4.1 innings, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with five strikeouts. The senior right-hander worked 2.2 scoreless innings of relief versus College of Charleston, giving up two hits with three strikeouts to earn a save, and tossed 3.1 innings of relief against Winthrop, allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Thomas is 2-2 with 26 strikeouts in 23.1 innings over six appearances so far this season for Lipscomb.
