Jordan strikes out 12 in softball game one win

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb’s Mandy Jordan threw a no-hitter through six innings and struck out 12 batters in a 4-1 win over Western Kentucky.

Jordan dominated in game one Wednesday night at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. The only hit she allowed was a home run on the first pitch of the seventh inning to Jordan Mauch which went over the right field fence.

The Lady Bisons scored three runs in the second inning. Sarah Higgins led off with a walk and Hannah DeVault singled to center field. Chloe Yeager hit a single down the left field line to score Higgins. The big hit of the inning was a single down the left field line by Kasey Gibson that brought home both Khayla Green and Yeager.

In the sixth the Lady Bisons added an insurance run on a single by Destinee Brewer to bring Yeager home.

Gibson and DeVault tied for the game high with two hits each.

Lipscomb is 22-7 heading into game two. The Lady Bisons have won their last six games. Western Kentucky slips to 18-14.

  • Gibson leads the team in multiple-hit games with 13.
