NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It wasn’t the best of weekends for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team, but they still find themselves in the top 40 of the NCAA RPI.
The Lady Bisons entered the weekend rated 37th, but despite the series loss to Kennesaw State they start this week in the 39th spot. Kennesaw State is 44th. USC Upstate is 50th.
“It is always a good thing when you have some of your tougher opponents in the latter half of the season,” Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman said. “At times, even if you do lose, you are playing a challenging schedule late in the season.
“We tried to schedule tough this year. While we didn’t play our best over the weekend we played a really tough Kennesaw State team. We learned a lot over the weekend that we need to take forward with us.”
This week the Lady Bisons travel to Fort Myers, Florida to close out the regular season. Due to Lipscomb’s graduation May 6 the series will begin Thursday with a doubleheader at 4 p.m. Friday’s game is scheduled for noon.
“We are off Monday,” Ryman said. “They are studying for finals. We are practicing late Tuesday and head to Ft. Myers Wednesday morning and hopefully find a way to win that series.”
