LakePoint, Ga. – In a fitting performance for a week that included Senior Day, Lipscomb softball senior Abby Fenichel was named the ASUN Player of the Week for the first time in her career as announced by the league offices on Monday.
Fenichel caught fire during the week, batting .462 and helping Lipscomb win all four of their games, including a three-game sweep of ASUN foe Jacksonville over the weekend.
The catcher went 6-13 at the plate, with five of her hits being doubles to lead the team in extra base hits. She is now the team leader and second in the ASUN with 12 doubles.
She also drove in a team-best six RBI, including two three-RBI performances. She has driven in three runs in a game four times this season and leads the Lady Bisons with 24 total RBI.
The Florida native also scored the game-winning run during Tuesday’s 2-0 win over UAB.
After four previous Pitcher of the Week awards, this is Lipscomb’s first Player of the Week award on the season.
The Lady Bisons will hit the diamond again this weekend as they travel to North Florida for another three-game ASUN tilt.
