NASHVILLE – Lipscomb’s Jordan Fortel was named one of the top 100 players in the nation by Softball America on Thursday.
The senior dual threat was ranked 92nd by the publication in their inaugural rankings.
Last season, her first in a Lady Bisons uniform after transferring from Walters State, Fortel was integral for Lipscomb both on the mound and in the batter’s box.
Her highlight performance as a pitcher came during the opening weekend as she tossed a no-hitter against No. 14 Ole Miss to end their unbeaten start to the season.
She pitched four strikeouts and gave up just one walk in the spectacular outing. She finished the season 4-3 with a 1.62 ERA and 32 strikeouts. Her opponent batting average of .190 was fourth-best in the ASUN.
At bat, she hit .301 for the season with 44 hits, six doubles, six home runs, 23 RBI, 18 runs scored, a .466 slugging percentage, and a .396 on-base percentage.
Fortel and the Lady Bisons will kick off the 2019 campaign on Friday with a pair of contests against Campbell (10 a.m.) and Samford (12:30 p.m.) on Friday at the Cowgirl Classic in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
