LAKE CHARLES, La. – Peyton Ward’s double was the biggest of three hits for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons as they fell 5-0 Saturday to No. 14-ranked Arkansas.
Mary Haff went the distance for Arkansas. She struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
Lipscomb used three pitchers in the game. Chloe Yeager started and pitched 2.1 innings. She gave up all six hits to Arkansas and allowed five runs, four earned. She also walked two.
Lipscomb falls to 2-1 in the Cowgirl Classic. Arkansas is 3-0.
Jordan Fortel threw 1.2 innings. She also walked two batters. She recorded one strikeout.
Megan Gray closed out the game for the Lady Bisons pitching two no-hit innings. She walked one batter and struck out one.
Arkansas scored two runs in the second inning and three in the third.
Also getting hits for Lipscomb were Destinee Brewer and Jenna Pealor.
The Lady Bisons are back in action tonight at Joe Miller Field at 8 against McNeese State, the tournament host.
- In the win over Campbell the scorer originally only credited Pealor with one run batted in. She actually should have had two RBI and the final score against Campbell is 9-0.
- Ward’s double was her second of the season.
- It was the first start of the season for Yeager, who took the loss.
- Brewer’s hit was her first for the season. She also was credited with her first stolen base.
The Lady Bisons close out the Cowgirl Classic Sunday at 11:30 a.m. in a rematch with McNeese State.
