NASHVILLE, Tenn. – It is final exam time at Lipscomb University and the Lady Bisons softball team is at the top of the ASUN in several classes.

Heading into this weekend’s ASUN series with Kennesaw State at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium the Lady Bisons are first overall in the conference in doubles (81), runs scored (242), slugging percentage (.422), on-base percentage (.380), runs batted in (201) and walks (187).

Kennesaw State leads the conference in home runs with 31. Lipscomb is second with 26. Lipscomb is second in hitting with a .279 average. Kennesaw State is fourth at .276.

Both teams have almost identical earned run averages. Lipscomb is fifth in the ASUN overall at 3.10. Kennesaw State  is sixth at 3.16.

The series with Kennesaw State is all about tournament seeding as well. Liberty leads the way with a 15-3 conference record. FGCU is 11-3 followed by Lipscomb at 10-4 and Kennesaw State with a 10-8 record.

Lipscomb is the top-ranked ASUN team in the NCAA RPI at 52. Liberty is 56th. FGCU is 61st and North Florida is 100th. Kennesaw State is 164th.

This will be the last home series for Lipscomb. Saturday’s doubleheader, which can be viewed on ESPN+, starts at 4.

The Lady Bisons, 32-13-1, have won four straight and 11 of their last 12.

Scouting Kennesaw State

  • Kennesaw State is 26-24 overall. The Owls beat Georgia Southern in a mid-week game 5-4 Thursday.
  • Three Owls are batting over .300 overall. Kira Czyrklis leads the way with a .352 mark. Jade Lee is batting .336 and Maddie Roth is hitting .325.
  • Roth leads the team in home runs (six), doubles (14) and RBI with 32.
  • Hailey Andrews leads the pitching staff with an 18-14 record and 1.88 ERA. She has 211 strikeouts in 194 innings. She leads the conference in both wins and strikeouts.
  • Kennesaw State has a 19-15 edge in the overall series.

  • Three Lipscomb players are batting higher than .300 overall. Jordan Fortel is hitting .345 followed by Hannah DeVault at .336 and Katie Turner at .310.
  • DeVault leads the team in home runs (nine), doubles (19) and RBI (46).
