When Belmont and Lipscomb meet in any sport it is a game of the week.

But this time around the Atlantic Sun Conference has given Saturday's meeting between the Lipscomb and Belmont volleyball teams at Lipscomb's Allen Arena special significance as the A-Sun Match of the Week.

"We haven't really talked about it being the game of the week, but anytime Lipscomb and Belmont get together it is the game of the week for us," said Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal. "I think the A-Sun recognizes that.

"This is one of those match-up that everybody is looking at with interest. I think it is exciting. I think our players are always ready for this game."

The match will start at 5 p.m. Fans can follow the play-by-play on Gametracker on the Lipscomb web site. Plans are also being finalized to have streaming video. Fans will click on the Lipscomb Live link to access the video of the match.

Lipscomb and Belmont played this spring. Rosenthal is expecting a major challenge as both teams are on top of the conference along with East Tennessee State.

"Belmont runs a quicker offense that a lot of teams have trouble with, especially in transition," said Rosenthal. "I look for them to be aggressive in transition.

"One of the things they have going for them is that they don't make a lot of mistakes. Belmont has done a phenomenal job over the years of controlling the ball and making the other team make mistakes."

The Lady Bisons have won their last three matches. They are 6-11 overall, 2-0 in the conference.

"We designed our schedule to put us in a good position for conference play," said Rosenthal. "The early part of the schedule prepared us well.

"We are in an excellent spot after a hard weekend of travel to Mercer and Stetson. With just one match we have been able to rest."

Belmont has won 10 straight matches, posting a 14-2 overall record, 2-0 in the A-Sun.

"It is just one match," said Rosenthal. "I don't necessarily need to over-hype it.

"We have dialed it back a little. We aren't putting too much pressure on ourselves. I can't hide from the hype. This is what college athletics are all about. We will be ready to go."

Both teams were picked in preseason to be at or near the top of the A-Sun standings.
