Two Lady Bisons Named to All-Tournament Team

The Lipscomb Lady Bisons volleyball team placed two players on the 2006 Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team. Senior opposite hitter Lindsey Rutherford from Hendersonville, Tenn., and senior libero Ann Mullins from Nashville were both voted to the squad by the conference coaches and Sports Information Directors.

During tournament play, Rutherford recorded 27 kills with only 6 errors in 51 attempts for an attack percentage of .412. She also had 16 digs. Mullins was credited with 42 digs.

Rutherford's accomplishments this season include:
•Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team
•All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team
•Two-time Atlantic Sun Player of the Week
•All-Tournament Team at Magic City/Music City Invitational Tournament
•Only second player in school history to break 1,000 marks in both kills and digs.
•3-year captain

Mullins, a senior with another year of eligibility remaining, had the following accomplishments:
•Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team
•All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team
•All-Tournament selection at Magic City/Music City Tournament
•Ranked 11th nationally in NCAA Division I in digs with 6.16 per game
•Leads Atlantic Sun in digs with 647, an average of 6.16 per game
•Holds school record for digs, all-time

In the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament, the Lady Bisons beat Mercer 30-26, 30-23, and 30-21 in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, Lipscomb lost to eventual tournament champion Belmont 30-26, 30-23, and 30-24. The Lady Bisons finished the season with a record of 14-17.
