The Lady Bisons volleyball team beat host South Alabama 3-2 Friday night in the first round of the Jaguar Classic in Mobile, Ala.
South Alabama won the first match 30-27. The Lady Bisons won game two 30-25 and lost game three 30-26. The Lady Bisons won game four 30-23 and sealed the match victory with a 15-11 win in game five.
It was their second five-game match in row. They lost 3-2 at home to Evansville Tuesday night.
Junior outside hitter Sarah Snider posted a match-high 24 kills, her seventh match high of the season. Also in double figures in kills was freshman middle blocker Alex Kelly with 12 and a .348 hitting percentage.
Freshman setter Stefine "Jake" Pease made a match-high 54 assists.
Three Lady Bisons finished in double figures in digs. Pease led the way with 14 followed by senior libero Ann Mullins with 13 and Snider with 10.
South Alabama was led by Juliana Ameida with 20 kills. Defensively, Shannon Vanantwerp made a match-high 24 digs.
The Lady Bisons are 4-7. They face McNeese State Saturday in the second round at 1:30 p.m. South Alabama slipped to 3-4 with the loss.
