MACON, Ga. – The Atlantic Sun Conference’s strong tradition of academic success continued with the announcement of the fall All-Academic teams. On Wednesday, the conference office announced that more than 58 percent of men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball players earned All-Academic status.

Lipscomb holds a narrow lead on ETSU with Belmont, winner of seven of the last eight All-Academic trophies, and USC Upstate following in third and fourth. The Bisons’ percentages for men’s cross country, men’s basketball and women’s basketball all top the conference. Additionally, the Bisons lead with 87 student-athletes on the team, followed by Belmont with 77 student-athletes and UNF with 71.

In total, 711 student-athletes made the All-Academic teams, led by 184 from the conference’s women’s soccer programs. ETSU’s men’s and women’s soccer teams boasted the top percentages in the respective sports. The women’s cross country team and volleyball team from Belmont each led the conference in those sports.

To be named A-Sun All-Academic, a student-athlete must achieve a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the classroom during their semester of competition. The sports sponsored by conference members include cross-country, soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, softball, baseball, indoor and outdoor track & field.
