NASHVILLE, Tenn.-The Lipscomb volleyball team will be heading on the road to open their 2012 season in the Kentucky Classic starting with Long Beach State at 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 24th.
The Lady Bisons will play a doubleheader on Saturday, Aug. 25th with the host team of Kentucky at 10 a.m. and then with North Carolina at 5 p.m.
All three teams are ranked inside the top 27, while the Wildcats are the only one ranked inside the top-25 at No. 13. Long Beach State and North Carolina are the top two teams outside the top 25.
“It’s not one of those tournaments that you can ease into things,” head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “These girls are going to come out and play hard and put their best effort forward and leave it all out on the floor.”
This will be the first time that Lipscomb will face any of these teams in the Kentucky Classic tournament.
“I don’t think this is a statement weekend for us,” Rosenthal said. “But I think it’s an opportunity for us to really take this program to the next level.”
The Lady Bisons return home after the tournament for the Lipscomb Invitational starting with a double header on Friday, Aug. 31st with Appalachian State at 12:30 p.m. and Missouri at 7:30 p.m. in Allen Arena. They finish up the tournament with Houston on Saturday, Sept. 1st at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free for all volleyball matches.
