Volleyball showdown against No. 19 Kentucky set for ESPN3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The rematch of last season’s five-set thriller between Lipscomb and No. 19 Kentucky on Sept. 21 at Allen Arena has been added to the ESPN3 broadcast schedule as part of the partnership between the University, the Atlantic Sun Conference and ESPN.

“I am very excited about ESPN3 covering our match with Kentucky,” said Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal. “This will be a great event for the University that will showcase the school, facilities and the athletic department.

“It's awesome to see Lipscomb Athletics and Lipscomb Volleyball taking huge steps forward in becoming a nationally recognized program.  This coverage will continue to set Lipscomb ahead of the curve.”

The 2012 clash between the Bisons and Wildcats in the Kentucky Classic saw Lipscomb put host Kentucky on the ropes by winning sets two and three but UK rallied in the final two sets to take the match and avoid the upset.

“We are very proud to once again expand the well-deserved exposure for our talented student-athletes, their teams and the A-Sun institutions,” said Atlantic Sun Conference Commissioner Ted Gumbart. “The strong and growing relationship between ESPN and the A-Sun lets us continue as a leader in campus produced digital content delivered through the ESPN family of networks,”.

The 2 p.m. contest will be produced from the state-of-the-art production suite in Allen Arena that is the hub of all on-campus productions for the Bisons.  Thanks to the partnership with the conference, Lipscomb became the first A-Sun institution to produce on-campus productions for ESPN3 including the semifinals and finals of the 2012 A-Sun Volleyball Championship hosted at Allen Arena.

Along with the Kentucky match, Lipscomb is set to broadcast five more volleyball contests on ESPN3 this fall.
