Tuesday night at Allen Arena the Lipscomb Bisons swept North Alabama in the first ASUN Conference match of the season for both teams. Lipscomb won 25-11, 25-20 and 25-13.
The Bisons open up ASUN Conference play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with North Alabama. The Lions are playing in their first match as a member of the conference.
The Illini took the sets by scores of 25-14, 25-13 and 25-11.
Lipscomb went toe-to-toe with No. 10 Creighton Friday night in its second match of the day in the Illini Classic, but in the end it was the Bluejays who captured the victory in straight sets (25-23, 25-19, 25-23) at Huff Hall.
The Panthers (6-4) took the sets 25-17, 25-20 and 25-16. With the loss, Lipscomb falls to 5-5 on the year.
The Lipscomb volleyball team hits the road for what looks to be its toughest tournament of the season in the Illini Classic in Champaign, Illinois. The Bisons will play Northern Iowa, No. 10 Creighton, No. 8 Illinois.
Lipscomb volleyball flexed its muscle early and often Tuesday in the Battle of the Boulevard as the Bisons dominated Belmont from beginning to end to sweep the Bruins, 3-0, in front of a raucous crowd inside Allen Arena.
Fresh off a sweep of Xavier on Saturday, the Bisons will look to make it two wins in a row when the Bruins make the trek down Granny White Pike for a 6:30 p.m. first serve at Allen Arena.
Ca’Layci Coffey led the Bisons charge with a career-high 12 kills and no errors on 15 swings. Lipscomb took down Xavier in straight sets: 25-22, 25-21, 25-22.
Sophomore Megan Kuper recorded a career high 14 kills, but it was not enough as the Boilermakers staved off the Bisons to claim a 3-0 victory in front of 2,158 fans at Purdue’s Holloway Gymnasium.
