Lady Bisons, No. 9-Ranked Lady Vols Play Spirited Match

An estimated crowd of 1,250 fans watched Saturday afternoon as Lipscomb's Lady Bisons battled the No.9-ranked Lady Vols from the University of Tennessee in the home opener of the 2005 volleyball season at Allen Arena.

The Lady Bisons lost the first two games 30-11 and 30-12, but came out strong in game No. 3, keeping the score knotted for much of the way before falling 30-23.

Ann Mullins and Grace Gilmore tied for team lead in defensive digs with six each for the Lady Bisons. Betsy Steele led the Lady Bisons with .222 hitting percentage.

The Lady Vols posted a .260 team hitting percentage. Julie Knytych led the Lady Vols with a .600 hitting percentage followed by Kristen Andre with a .556. Amy Morris and Annie Sadowski both tied with a match high seven digs.
