Usually a 3-0 shutout would be enough to throw a coach into a tantrum, but Lipscomb Coach Brandon Rosenthal was happy with his team's performance Friday evening against IUPUI in the first round of the Dunn Hospitality Aces Invitational at the University of Evansville.

"I'm happy with the way we played," Rosenthal said. "We served the ball extremely well. Our defense played well.We played a good match. We just gave up too many points."

The Lady Bisons lost by scores of 30-25, 30-24 and 31-29.

Game one saw the lead change several times. The Lady Bisons held a 14-13 advantage that quickly disappeared as IUPUI reeled off five straight points and never trailed again.

In game two the Lady Bisons opened with a 1-0 lead, but that was the last advantage they would have. IUPUI outscored Lipscomb 12-2 to take a 12-3 lead and control of the game.

The Lady Bisons bounced back in game three and led most of the way. IUPUI used an 8-0 run to take control of the match. But with the score tied 29-29 the Lady Bisons prevented IUPUI from scoring on four straight match points before finally losing the game.

The Lady Bisons combined for 41 kills, but also made 27 attack errors compared to 16 by IUPUI. The Lady Bisons were out-hit .235 to .112.

"There were just too many hitting errors," Rosenthal said. "When we play the better teams one of the things we have to do is cut down on our errors."

Jessica Enderle finished with a double-double with 10 kills and 11 digs. It marked the third straight match that Enderle has produced a double-double. Cara Wilber added 10 kills.

The Lady Bisons made nine service aces with IUPUI credited with five. Ann Mullins led the way for the Lady Bisons with four. Wilber added three.

The Lady Bisons are 2-7. IUPUI is 5-4.
