Lady Bisons Fall to UAB in Game 2 of Magic Music City Tourney August 25, 2007
After winning the first match versus Samford of the Magic Music City Tournament, the Lady Bisons fell to the University of Alabama Birmingham 3-0. The Lady Bisons played tremendously well against the Lady Blazers, who went to the NCAA tournament last year all the way to round two.
"I think tonight was a good test for us against a very good team that went to the NCAA tournament last year," said head coach Brandon Rosenthal. "Their team is well established. I think 6 of their 7 starters are back. They are bigger physically than us, but that's just one of those things."
The Lady Bisons lost the first game 30-16, the second 30-18, and the third 30-26. They had a total of 6 team blocks; outblocking UAB 6 to 5.
"With bigger teams, we've got to just go out and fight for every point," said Rosenthal. "It's a matter of getting everything together and playing a little more carefree."
Perhaps the shiner of the game; Sarah Snider, a newcomer Junior transfer from the University of Alabama proved herself to her team tonight with a total of 17 kills for the entire 3 games.
"I think Sarah did a lot to show what she's all about. I think she is a good player who is going to do a lot of good things over the next couple of years."
The Lady Bisons will travel to Malibu, CA on August 31st for the Pepperdine Tournament. They will face Arizona, Pepperdine, and Nevada. The next home game is September 4th versus Tennessee Tech in Allen Arena.
