Final Stats

It was the Alex and Alex Show Friday night as the Lady Bisons ran their winning streak to five matches with a 3-0 sweep of Atlantic Sun foe North Florida.

Senior middle blocker Alex Scruggs made 11 kills and posted a .391 hitting percentage. Freshman middle blocker Alex Kelly chipped in 10 kills. Kelly has double figures in kills in her last five matches. Scruggs has double figures in her last three.

"They play a little different in style and it keeps the other team guessing," said Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal. "Alex Kelly is so athletic. She can hit any ball possible and she sees the court so well. Alex Scruggs has more arm strength and she has all of that experience.

"It is tough for teams. They are always looking for one or the other."

Rosenthal likes the balanced attack that can be launched when the middle blockers are strong offensively.

"The win is what matters, but I thought we did a real good job with our middle," Rosenthal said. "We are working them in as much as we can. We kept North Florida off-balance. We did a pretty good job hitting percentage-wise."

Junior outside hitter Sarah Snider made a match-high 15 kills. Senior outside hitter Jessica Enderle added 11 kills, her fifth straight match in double figures.

"I was happy with the distribution of kills," Rosenthal said. "It was a good match for Jessica. She is making the most of her opportunity."

Defensively, senior libero Ann Mullins and senior defensive specialist Grace Gilmore tied for the team lead with 14 digs each. Gilmore has had double figures in digs in back-to-back matches.

The Lady Bisons won the games by scores of 30-21, 30-23 and 30-25.

"We got out of the gates a little slow," Rosenthal said. "We had a little trouble finding a rhythm. But when we got the score in the 20s we kicked it into gear and took care of business.

"Anytime we can get a conference win, especially on the road is important," Rosnethal said. "Travel is a lot tougher than just rolling up to Allen Arena."

No North Florida players were in double figures in kills. North Florida's hitting percentage was .138.

Maegan Weisert had a match-high 20 digs for North Florida. Nikki Prock chipped in with 11 and Chelsea Rabe was credited with 10.

The Lady Bisons are 11-9 overall, 4-2 in the A-Sun. North Florida is 4-17, 1-6 in the A-Sun.

Saturday at 2 the Lady Bisons face Jacksonville.

"Jacksonville is a very good team," Rosenthal said. "They have a very tall team. I expect them to put a lot of pressure on us at the net. It is going to be about ball control."
