Volleyball starts practice

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-The Lipscomb volleyball team held their first practice of the season today in preparation of defending their Atlantic Sun Conference Championship.

The Lady Bisons have won the last three conference tournament titles and four of the last five seasons and will be looking to defend their title again this season.

“Our chances are good,” head coach Brandon Rosenthal said.  “We’re in a spot in this program where the expectations are high.  There's no doubt we can do it again.  We've proven over the last couple of years that we can."

The women’s volleyball team will be adding three freshmen’s to the team and will be losing three seniors, including the A-Sun Co-Player of the Year, Katie Rose.

“We lost a couple of great girls with Abby Fay, Charlyn Ursell and Katie Rose," Rosenthal said.  "When you have a team, you have to rebuild, but when you have a program, you move forward and that's where we are at."

Senior Kaycee Green and sophomore Lauren Ford lead the team last season in kills per set with 3.47 and 3.17 respectively.

The Lady Bisons will host an alumni match on Friday, August 17 at 6 p.m. before heading to Lexington, Ky. for their first regular season game against Long Beach State on Friday, August 24th at 4:00 p.m as part of the UK Invitational.
