NASHVILLE, Tenn.-About a week has gone by since the Lipscomb volleyball team has started practice and it has allowed head coach Brandon Rosenthal to see his players on the court.
“Preseason is a tough time because you’ve got a short window to fit so much in on the court,” Rosenthal said. “But more importantly you’ve got that dynamic of that team chemistry that you’re always trying to work for.”
The volleyball team will be defending their three-time Atlantic Sun Championship this season and Rosenthal feels no pressure being picked first in the conference this season to try to become the second team in A-Sun history with four consecutive championships.
“It’s definitely where we want the program to be year in and year out,” Rosenthal said. “I don’t think there’s any extra pressure that we feel from the outside. The pressure that we bring within and the expectations that we have, pretty much do it all.”
The Lady Bisons will have an intersquad practice on Friday, Aug. 17 and then the alumni will square off with each other. The Lady Bisons will play against the alumni on Saturday, Aug. 18.
Lipscomb heads to Lexington, Ky. for the UK Invitational and will first play against Long Beach State on Friday, Aug. 24th for the first match of the season.
