MACON, Ga. – Lauren Ford was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Ford had 58 kills and 25 digs in the four matches played last week and had one assist, one solo block and one block assist. Ford also averaged 4.83 kills per set and a hitting percentage of .245.
“We’re very excited about it,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “It’s something that I think is the tip of the iceberg for Lauren and for her individual career.”
This is Ford’s first career A-Sun Player of the Week honor.
Ford barely missed a double-double against in-state foe Austin Peay on Tuesday, Sept. 4th. She had 12 kills, nine digs and a hitting percentage of .333.
Ford set a career-high twice in the same day with 19 kills in a 3-0 defeat of Iona and 3-0 loss to TCU in the first day of the Arizona Invitational.
Ford was named All-Tournament team in the Arizona Invitational with 46 kills and 16 digs.
“Lauren’s a tremendous player,” Rosenthal said. “Over the summer and last spring, Lauren’s been working on making her total game a lot better. She’s done a nice job varying her shots and understanding what’s going on a little bit more with the blocks instead of hitting it as hard as she can.”
