NASHVILLE, Tenn. –The Lipscomb volleyball team looks to get one last win before the conference schedule starts against Western Kentucky at E.A. Diddle Arena on Tuesday.

The Lady Toppers (9-3) will be the sixth opponent that the Lady Bisons (3-7) have faced this season that made the NCAA Tournament last season.  WKU is coming off a 3-1 record in the WKU Tournament, including a defeat of No. 10 Dayton, 3-1.

“Western Kentucky continues to put teams in the NCAA Tournament,” Lipscomb head coach Brandon Rosenthal said.  “Year after year, they produce some phenomenal teams.  They just came off a very good weekend beating a very good Dayton team and then losing a tough match to Ohio State in four.”

Sophomore Lauren Ford was announced Monday as the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week.  Ford had 58 kills and 25 digs in four matches and also had one assist, one solo block and one block assist.  She averaged 4.83 kills per set and had a .245 hitting percentage.  This is Ford’s first career player of the week.

Ford was named to the All-Tournament Team in the Arizona Invitational.  Ford had 48 kills and 16 digs, including setting a career-high twice in one day with 19 kills in a defeat of Iona 3-0 and a 3-0 loss to TCU.

“Lauren’s a tremendous player,” Rosenthal said.  “Over the summer and last spring, Lauren’s been working on making her total game a lot better.  She’s done a nice job varying her shots and understanding what’s going on a little bit more with the blocks instead of hitting it as hard as she can.”

On the season, Ford ranks second in the A-Sun with 3.70 kills per set and leads the team with 122 kills.

Senior Kaycee Green was also named to the All-Tournament Team in the Arizona Invitational as she tallied 50 kills.  She has seven-straight matches of at least 10 kills.

Junior Caitlin Dotson continues to track down her 1,000th career assist as she only needs 90 more assists to complete that feat.

The Lady Bisons will start their conference schedule on the road against Northern Kentucky at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 18.
