Ford, Ostrom earn volleyball Academic All-District honors

Two members of the Lipscomb Lady Bisons volleyball team have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team for District 3. The team was announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Senior outside hitter Lauren Ford and sophomore setter Kayla Ostrom were named to the seven-person first team. It is the first time two members of the Lady Bisons volleyball team have received first team district honors.

“What an awesome accomplishment for both Lauren and Kayla,” Lipscomb coach Brandon Rosenthal said. “Both of these girls are some of the hardest workers I have ever come across.

“Their dedication to their academic success is unrivaled and this recognition is totally deserved.  I am so proud of both of them in carrying on a great tradition of excellence not only on the court, but also in the classroom.”

Ford, an exercise science major from Lenexa, Kansas, has a 3.96 grade point average. Ford also was named to the first team last year.

Ostrom, a sophomore from Lafayette, Indiana, has a 4.00 in applied chemistry.

To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.

Both Ford and Ostrom are now eligible for consideration for the national CoSIDA Academic All-America® team.
