Estes, Thomas snag final A-Sun Player of the Week honors

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb's Brittnay Estes and Brittany Thomas are final Atlantic Sun Volleyball Player of the Week honorees for 2014, the league office announced on Sunday.

Estes, a right side from Palm Harbor, Florida, was named A-Sun Player of the Week. Thomas, a defensive specialist from Overland Park, Kansas, was named A-Sun Freshman of the Week.

Estes earned her second career A-Sun Player of the Week award after recording back-to-back double-doubles last weekend. She totaled 27 kills and 24 digs as the Lady Bisons clinched the A-Sun regular season title for the fourth time. Estes had 11 kills and hit .500 in the win over USC Upstate, then followed that up with 16 kills in a victory over Kennesaw State on the final day of the regular season. She dded nine assists and six blocks over weekend, while averaging 3.86 kills per set 

Thomas picks up her first Freshman of the Week award this season after helping the Lady Bisons to a perfect 2-0 weekend. The defensive specialist from Kansas had 20 digs combined and averaged 2.86 digs per set. Her 12 digs against Kennesaw State gave Thomas four double-digit performances in her last five matches. She added two aces and one kill on offense in the victories.
