Ford, Ostrom earn A-Sun volleyball academic honors

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb University senior outside hitter Lauren Ford has been named the Atlantic Sun Scholar-Athlete of the Year for volleyball.

Ford was one of the three players receiving unanimous votes for the A-Sun Academic All-Conference Team. Ford, from Lenexa, Kansas, has a 3.96 grade point average in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology.

Sophomore setter Kayla Ostrom was also named to the Academic All-Conference Team. Ostrom, from Lafayette, Indiana, has a perfect 4.0 in Applied Chemistry.

Both Ford and Ostrom were named this season to the Capital One/CoSIDA District 3 All-Academic First Team. It was the second year in a row for Ford to earn the honor. Both players are eligible for consideration for the national Academic All-America Team.

Lipscomb, Northern Kentucky and Jacksonville were the only schools with two members on the team.  There were nine A-Sun volleyball players named to the Academic All-Conference Team.
