Dobson named TSWA volleyball Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb’s Jewell Dobson earned Tennessee Sports Writers Association Volleyball Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, registering 37 kills with five blocks and four digs in a pair of wins for the Bisons.

This is the first time a Lipscomb player has been honored by the TSWA in volleyball this season.

Dobson, a middle blocker, was also named as Atlantic Sun Conference Co-Player of the Week for Oct. 6-11. It was her second time to be honored this season by the A-Sun.

The Shepherdsville, Kentucky native posted 16 kills against North Florida and collected 21 versus Jacksonville University, averaging 4.63 kills per set in the two Atlantic Sun Conference victories. She combined for a hitting percentage of .567, as the Bisons continued their undefeated run in A-Sun play, and hit .600 at North Florida.

The redshirt senior has 233 kills (3.33 per set) and 47 total blocks this season for Lipscomb, which stands 12-7 overall and 5-0 in league play.
