NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Lipscomb junior setter Kayla Ostrom has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for District 3.
Ostrom, from Lafayette, Indiana, has earned a 4.00 grade point average in Food Systems Management. She is one of only two players on the six-player team to post a 4.00.
This is the second year in a row Ostrom has been named to the District 3 First Team. District 3 includes NCAA Division I schools in Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia.
Ostrom, picked as the Preseason Setter of the Year in the A-Sun, has spent most of the season in the top 10 nationally in NCAA Division I in both total assists and assists per set.
Last season she was a Second Team All-Atlantic Sun performer. She also was a member of the A-Sun Academic All-Conference Team, the A-Sun 4.0 GPA Team and the A-Sun All-Academic Team for 2014.
To be eligible for the CoSIDA award a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
Ostrom will next compete for CoSIDA National Team honors.
