LAKEPOINT, Ga. - The ASUN Conference has recognized Lipscomb volleyball player Kayla Ostrom as one of the members of the Fall 2016 semester Winners for Life team.
The team is comprised of one student-athlete from each of the eight institutions in the conference and honors those who display excellence on and off the playing surface.
The Winners for Life team honors a campus citizen that is respected as one who shares and/or demonstrates the ASUN Core Values: Education, Honesty, Student-Athlete Experience, Fairness, Health, Ambition, Respect, Diversity, Inclusion, Leadership, Responsibility and Sportsmanship.
To be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must have competed in the current academic year in an ASUN sponsored sport and be in good academic standing at his/her university.
Ostrom, a setter, owns a 4.0 cumulative GPA in her Master's Business Administration program.
She held the same GPA during her undergraduate career and was voted the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year in each of the past two seasons.
Ostrom has also been a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) District 3 All-Academic Team. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Division I Volleyball Team for the second year in a row. In 2016 she was a second team selection. She was a third team honoree in 2015.
On the court, Ostrom is the active career leader in assists in the ASUN and has helped the Bisons to back-to-back ASUN Championship titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
She was the chair of Lipscomb's SAAC from 2014-16 and is a member of the President's Ambassador Council. She has volunteered at several events in the community, including the Special Olympics state basketball tournament.
