LAKEPOINT, Ga. – Carlyle Nusbaum was named Player of the Week in the opening ASUN Conference Volleyball Weekly Honors, announced by the league office on Monday.
The junior outside hitter led Lipscomb with 50 kills and 21 digs in three matches over the weekend in the LUV Invite while helping the Bisons to a 2-1 record.
Nusbaum opened the season Friday night with her 15th career double-double after collecting 15 kills and 10 digs in a sweep of former ASUN rival, ETSU. She hit .440 in the match.
After chipping in 10 kills against Wichita State Saturday morning, the Overland Park, Kansas native played her best match of the Invite in a 3-1 win over No. 24 Arizona in the nightcap. She dominated from the opening set en route to a match-high 25 kills to go along with eight digs and three service aces while hitting .413. The win over the Wildcats was the first agaisnt a ranked team inside Allen Arena in program history.
For the weekend Nusbaum averaged 5.00 kills per set and added four blocks and three assists.
The honor is the seventh of her career.
Lipscomb will be back in action this weekend with a trip to Columbus, Ohio for the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic hosted by Ohio State. The Bisons will take on Oakland at 2:30 p.m. Friday before matching up with Missouri State (9 a.m.) and Ohio State (7 p.m.) on Saturday.
