NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The accolades continue to roll in for Lipscomb volleyball’s Carlyle Nusbaum after posting a monster weekend on the court.
Just one day after receiving an ASUN Conference record ninth weekly honor, Nusbaum was named the Player of the Week for both VolleyMob and Tennessee Sports Writers Association on Tuesday. Both awards are the first of the season for Nusbaum from their respective publications.
The junior outside hitter recorded a pair of double-doubles for the Bisons while totaling 52 kills, 29 digs and a .361 swinging percentage. She averaged 7.43 kills and 4.14 digs per set as the Bisons
In a 3-1 loss against ASUN co-leader Jacksonville Friday, Nusbaum posted 28 kills and 13 digs while hitting .333 and adding three blocks. The Overland Park, Kansas native followed up with a 24-kill, 16-dig effort in a sweep of North Florida on Saturday while swinging .400. She committed just 13 errors in 108 attacks in the two outings.
Nusbaum has 13 double-doubles on the year and has now reached 20+ kills in eight matches this season and 18 times in her career. The reigning ASUN Player of the Year is sitting on 1,200 career kills and currently leads the conference with 431 kills, 5.01 kills per set, 457 points and 5.3 points per set.
Lipscomb is back in action this weekend for the final two matches of the regular season. The Bisons travel to FGCU on Friday at 6 p.m. and then to Stetson on Saturday at 5 p.m.
