Volleyball debuts at 11th in Mid-Major Poll

NASHVILLE - Following a pair of impressive victories over SMU and Iowa in the LUV Invite on the season's first weekend, the Lipscomb volleyball team enters the VolleyballMag.com Mid-Major Poll at No. 11 after being unranked to start the season.

Lipscomb also debuted at No. 28 in PrepVolleyball’s “College Top 64: Glance at the Dance.” The first-year poll ranks the top 64 teams who are projected to play in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bisons are one of two teams from the ASUN Conference ranked in the VolleyMag.com poll as Kennesaw State came in at No. 22. Brigham Young tops the first mid-major rankings with 24 first-place votes, while Northern Iowa is second with one first-place vote. Creighton, Cal Poly, and San Diego round out the top five.

Lipscomb opened the season with a 3-0 sweep of SMU on Friday before coming from behind to take down Iowa 3-2 on Saturday. Senior Carlyle Nusbaum paced the team with a pair of double-doubles, 31 kills and 24 digs. She earned her 10th-career ASUN Player of the Week honor, extending her conference record.

The Bisons are back in action this weekend at the Cactus Classic in Tucson, Arizona. They will play two matches on Friday against host Arizona (noon) and Pacific (6:30 p.m. CT) before going against San Diego State at noon on Saturday.
